Ranchi, Feb. 10 -- The Jharkhand administration has adopted a strict approach to ensure free, fair and peaceful conduct of the upcoming civic body elections, warning that distribution of cash, liquor or other inducements to influence voters will invite stringent action. Officials stated on Tuesday that such activities constitute a punishable offence under election laws.
To prevent any malpractice, special flying squads have been constituted in every police station area to monitor illegal activities during the election period. These teams are conducting regular patrols and maintaining close surveillance in sensitive locations to curb attempts aimed at influencing the electoral process.
