Ranchi, Dec. 22 -- : The Jharkhand Congress on Monday accused the BJP of weakening the MGNREGA framework and misusing central probe agencies to politically target opposition leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, in the National Herald case.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Bhavan here, Congress Working Committee member Kamleshwar Patel said the Modi government had systematically diluted MGNREGA over the past 11 years, reducing employment to about 50-55 days annually in the last five years. He said MGNREGA was not merely about retaining Mahatma Gandhi's name but about protecting a legal right guaranteed by the Congress-led UPA.
