Bhubaneswar, Feb. 10 -- Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Srikant Jena has expressed deep concern over the recent Union Cabinet decision to operationalize the South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone by bifurcating the Waltair Division and merging its core areas with SCoR.

Jena in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that this decision reflects a state-centric approach to railway restructuring, prioritizing Andhra Pradesh's interests at the cost of Odisha.

While Andhra Pradesh can have its own railway zone with divisions such as Guntur, Vijayawada, and Guntakal, the unjustified bifurcation of Waltair lacks operational and financial rationale.
