Srinagar, Dec. 3 -- An Army jawan shot himself with his service rifle in south Kashmir district of Shopian.
Official sources said that panic gripped village Zawoora when a gunshot was heard during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday from a security force camp in Shopian. "The security forces rushed to the area from where the gunshot was heard and found a jawan in a pool of blood," they said.
They said the injured was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. "It was not immediately clear why he took this extreme step," they said, adding that police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstance which forced him to commit suicide.
