Beed, Sept. 2 -- The Maratha reservation issue has become the central focus of Maharashtra politics with attention concentrated on Maratha leader Manoj Jarange-Patil's campaign for securing reservation for his community.

His indefinite hunger strike at Mumbai's Azad Maidan entered the fifth day today.

The police has declined to extend permission for the protest, citing multiple violations of pre-agreed conditions for the agitation. The protest has created a challenging situation for the state government, with Jarange-Patil present at Azad Maidan with thousands of Maratha supportera.
