New Delhi, Aug. 8 -- A total of 224 cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) - a viral disease spread by mosquitoes - have been reported from 11 states in 2025, the Government said today.

The year 2025 (up to June 30) has seen the lowest number of JE cases compared to the previous five years, she added.

Assam recorded the highest number of cases at 127, while Uttar Pradesh reported the lowest, with just two cases, said Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare in Lok Sabha.
