Tokyo, Aug. 13 -- Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index hit a new all-time intraday high on Wednesday morning, topping the 43,000 mark for the first time, media reports said.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 582.90 points, or 1.36 percent, from Tuesday to 43,301.07.

The broader Topix index, meanwhile, ended the morning up 27.48 points, or 0.90 percent, at 3,093.85, as per media reports.

Buy orders spread as soon as the market opened following Wall Street advances overnight after U.S. inflation data fueled investor expectations for a rate cut in September, analysts said, noting that there are also signs that the Nikkei is overheated after its extremely steep rally.
