Tokyo, Aug. 1 -- Japan has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the discharge of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant resumed today after a pause due to a tsunami threat, the IAEA said on Friday.
The agency said that the discharge of water treated by the ALPS system at Japan's Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant had been suspended in line with safety protocols.
"The IAEA has been informed by Japan that the ALPS treated water discharge off the coast of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station has resumed today," the IAEA said on X.
