Tokyo, Feb. 27 -- Japan and Britain agreed to establish a framework for mutual support in the event of "significant malicious cyber activities" at the 9th Japan-UK Cyber Dialogue held in Tokyo on Friday, officials said.
The dialogue was co-chaired by Fumito Miyake, Japan's ambassador in charge of cyber policy and deputy director-general of the Foreign Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Andrew Whittaker, head of the Cyber Policy Department at Britain's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
The talks followed Japan's enactment last year of its Cyber Response Capability Strengthening Act and related legislation, as well as the adoption of a new national cybersecurity strategy.
