Srinagar, March 19 -- A suspected improvised explosive device (IED) was detected in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district this morning, officials said on Wednesday.

They said a suspicious object was detected along the Bandipora- Srinagar highway near "sun set point" at around 9 am by the road opening party of the forces.

The bomb disposal squad was immediately called on the spot and the traffic along the highway was also halted.

" BDS is on the job to safely neutralize the device," officials said.
