Srinagar, Aug. 20 -- The Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Srinagar today convicted a retired IAS officer Habibul Hassan Beigh, former member of the J&K Special Tribunal, in a decades-old graft case, sentencing him to one year's imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15 lakh.
The conviction pertains to FIR No. 22/1997 registered by the then Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (now Anti-Corruption Bureau) under provisions of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and the J&K Public Men and Public Servants Declaration of Assets Act.
The case was registered on April 24, 1997, alleging that Beigh had amassed disproportionate assets in the form of movable and immovable property during his service.
