Srinagar, Sept. 19 -- Jammu and Kashmir Police today seized significant quantities of poppy straw in separate operations in Anantnag and Sopore, arresting three persons, including two from Punjab, Police said.

In a related action, Police in Handwara sub-district attached a residential house belonging to alleged notorious drug peddler.

Police said acting on specific input, police from Bijbehara Anantnag intercepted a vehicle at Donipora, and recovered approximately 136.3 kg of a poppy straw-like substance.

Two persons on board, identified as Sunil Kumar of Gandhi Camp, Jalandhar, and Boby of Tilak Nagar, Jalandhar, Punjab, were arrested. The vehicle used in the alleged crime was also seized, they added.
