Srinagar, Oct. 18 -- Jammu and Kashmir Police today said that they apprehended 17 long-term absconders from Srinagar, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Shopian, and Sopore, some of whom had been evading arrest for over three decades.

Police said in Srinagar, six absconders, including Mehraj-ud-Din Marazi, absconding for 11 years under the NDPS Act, and Habibulla Bhat, evading arrest for 27 years under the RPC, were traced and arrested following targeted operations by a special police team.

In Pulwama, three individuals, including Abdul Salam Dar, who had been absconding for 25 years, were apprehended. Mehraj Ud Din Rather, wanted under the Negotiable Instruments Act, was also arrested for evading legal proceedings.
