Srinagar, Sept. 26 -- Jammu and Kashmir politicians, who have been voicing support for Ladakhis' demands for constitutional rights, strongly condemned the arrest of prominent climate activist Sonam Wangchuk.

Wangchuk was arrested by police and charged under the stringent National Security Act (NSA), two days after violent protests in Leh left four people dead and more than 50 others injured.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah termed the arrest of Wangchuk as "unfortunate" and accused the central government of going back on promises made to the people of Ladakh, just as it had done in Jammu and Kashmir.
