Srinagar, Feb. 28 -- A major fire broke out in a hotel at the ski resort of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday, officials said.

They said the tourists were evacuated safely from the hotel.

Fire and emergency services said the fire broke out in the attic portion of the three story hotel "Pine Palace" at snow bound Gulmarg at around 11.30 this morning.

"The fire service of Gulmarg is on the job to put out the flames," they said, adding that "the hotel is mostly made of wooden structures, and it would take time to douse the fire".

The fire tenders may take time to reach the spot as there is more than five feet of accumulation of snow at Gulmarg.
