Srinagar, Nov. 15 -- At least nine people including a police officer were killed and over two dozen others injured after a blast inside the Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar late Friday night, official sources said.

The toll is expected to rise, as several of the injured are in critical condition.

Official sources said the blast occurred when a large cache of seized explosives-recovered from a recently busted interstate terror module-detonated during an inspection by police and forensic teams.

Sources said at least nine persons, most of them policemen, were killed, and 26 others were injured in the blast.

There is no official word from police on the blast or casualties so far.
