Srinagar, Feb. 19 -- The historic Jamia Masjid in old Srinagar is set to undergo an illumination project, with facade lighting to be completed before the holy month of Ramadan.

In addition, ''special audio-video equipment is being installed in the women's section of the mosque to improve the prayer experience''.

The upgrades come as part of preparations to accommodate the large number of devotees expected during Ramadan that begins on March 1 or 2.

The management body of Srinagar's historic mosque, Anjuman-e-Auqaf held a preliminary meeting in connection with the upcoming holy month of Ramazan, which was chaired by Kashmir's Chief Cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
