Dhaka, Oct. 10 -- The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami (BJI) today yet again demanded adoption of the proportional representation system ahead of next year's parliamentary elections, insisting that the public must be allowed to decide the issue directly through a referendum.

The BJI has also repeated calls for a November referendum for the implementation of the July Charter ahead of the polls.

The call came from Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar, who addressed a rally near the south gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Jumma prayers on Friday, as per Daily Star.
