New Delhi, Dec. 30 -- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will attend the funeral of Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Wednesday.
It is not usual for India to send a cabinet mninister to attend the funeral of a former prime minister. However, given the importance of Bangladesh and the standing of begum Zia, Jaishankar has chosen to attend the function tomorrow.
According to official sources, Dr. Jaishankar will travel to Dhaka on Dec 31, to attend the funeral and convey India's condolences to the people and leadership of Bangladesh.
