Patna, Nov. 14 -- Jailed JD(U) leader Anant Singh has won the Bihar Assembly election from the Mokama seat for the sixth time, defeating RJD candidate Veena Devi by a margin of 28,206 votes. Singh secured 91,416 votes, while Veena Devi managed 63,210.

Singh, a former don turned politician, was given the party ticket from Mokama despite objections from JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar, who had also expressed interest in contesting the seat. Kumar had publicly opposed Singh's candidature, stating he would never support anyone with a criminal background, regardless of party affiliation.
