Kolkata, March 1 -- Manipal Hospitals, Salt Lake, Kolkata, part of India's second-largest healthcare provider chain, has performed Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) treatment on a septuagenarian in less than an hour.

Dr. Prof. P.S Banerjee, Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Manipal Hospital, effectively eliminated calcium deposits from the patient's coronary artery, allowing for uncomplicated stent implantation.

Ranjan Roy (name changed), a 72-year-old man with comorbidities such as arterial narrowing cramps, neurological issues, and hypertension, showed extensive calcium build up inside his coronary artery. Given the severity and age of the patient, IVL was performed immediately, and a stent was placed into the artery.
