Kolkata, Jan. 21 -- Qualifier Tanvi Pandey shocked fourth-seeded Kseniia Akhrameeva to enter the quarter finals of the Girls Singles Under 18 category at the ongoing DKS ITF Juniors J200 World Ranking Tennis Tournament here on Wednesday.
After brushing past local favourite Aleena Farid in the opening round, Pandey won a long 3-setter against Kseniia to become the only Indian in the last 8 of the singles draw.
Pandey won 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. She will face 6th seeded Darina Matvejeva of Latvia in the quarterfinal on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the dream run for qualifier Mannan Ashok Agarwal of Maharashtra ended in the hands of unseeded Tavish Pahwa as the latter won in straight sets 7-5, 6-1.
