Singapore, July 30 -- Italy's Chiara Pellacani and Matteo Santoro claimed the gold medal in the mixed 3-meter synchronized springboard at the World Aquatics Championships today, as China missed out on the title in this non-Olympic event.

On the fifth day of diving at the championships, China's Li Yajie and Cheng Zilong settled for the bronze medal with a score of 305.70 points, following a costly mistake in their fourth-round dive.

Italy's Pellacani and Santoro, silver medalists at last year's Doha Worlds, delivered a consistent series of dives to take top spot with 308.13 points.
