Chennai, Nov. 30 -- The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is planningto launch the Chandrayaan-4 Lunar mission with heavier Lander and Rover that wouldpick samples from the moon and return to earth for experiments, by 2028.

Delivering the convocation address at a private varsity here last evening, ISRO ChairmanDr V. Narayanan said the weight of its key payloads, the Lander and Rover, which wouldpick samples from the Lunar surface--a capability currently demonstrated only by the US,Russia and China--would be heavier in this mission.

While the Lander onboard the Chandrayaan-3 weighed 1,600 kg, the one in Chandrayaan-4would be much heavier at 6,800 kg.

Likewise, the weight of the Rover would be 350 kg as against the 25 kg in Chandra...
