Gaza, Feb. 19 -- The Israeli military forces opened fire on Wednesday on a group of Palestinians near the airport area in Rafah, the southern Gaza Strip, killing a 16-year-old Palestinian teenager, according to local sources and witnesses.
Palestinian medics confirmed that Mahmoud Abu Zakar succumbed to his injuries after being struck by Israeli fire. His body was later transported to a nearby hospital for medical examination.
The Israeli army said in a statement that soldiers opened fire after spotting a suspect near their position in southern Gaza, claiming the suspect continued advancing despite warnings and posed an immediate threat.
