Jerusalem, Sept. 28 -- Israel's efforts to draw Gaza's major clans to its side powerful clans in a bid to to weaken Hamas's hold on the enclave have reportedly failed, receiving a swift rejection and were followed by deadly airstrikes, according to Saudi media Asharq Al-Awsat and security officials in Gaza City, reported Israel' state broadcaster Kan on Sunday.

As per the Jerusalem Post, this is an initiative by the country's internal security wing Shin Bet, whose operatives had approached leaders of the Bakr and Durmush families - two of the Strip's most influential clans - offering support in return for cooperation.
