Beirut, March 22 -- The Israeli air force launched massive strikes on the settlements of Touline and Kfarkela in southern Lebanon, a military source told Sputnik on Saturday.

"Touline and Kfarkela were subjected to massive bombing by enemy aircraft. At least two people were injured," the source said.

Three settlements near the border municipality of Naqoura were also hit, the source said.

The Israeli army said the airstrikes were aimed at destroying Hezbollah positions in what it described as the "first wave" of retaliatory strikes.

The Lebanese army said it had conducted raids in southern Lebanon to identify sources of the fire. Lebanese troops found and dismantled homemade rocket launchers.
