Jerusalem, Sept. 27 -- Israel expects the UAE to play a major role in the construction and governance of post-war Gaza, given its ties with both Israel and its status as a major Gulf State - therefore being imperative to the equation, according to Channel 12.

Abu Dhabi established formal ties with Jerusalem in 2020, after it signed the Abraham Accords, a normalisation agreement brokered by the first Trump administration.

The agreement sought to normalise relations between the Jewish state and the Arab world, and led to Jerusalem having formal diplomatic ties with the UAE, Morocco, Bahrain, and Sudan, as well as establishing backchannel communications with Saudi Arabia.
