Bhubaneswar, May 28 -- Twenty-five wagons of an iron ore-laden goods train derailed near Chimidipalli in the Araku-Kottavalasa section under the Waltair Division of East Coast Railway on Wednesday.
Sources from East Coast Railway (ECoR) said that senior railway officials immediately rushed to the site to assess the situation and expedite restoration work.
A relief train was promptly dispatched to carry out restoration operations. The route is primarily used for freight traffic.
Some passenger trains between Visakhapatnam and Kirandul have been diverted via Vizianagaram and Rayagada.
Resource mobilization is in full swing to ensure swift restoration, ECoR stated.
