London, May 28 -- Ireland on Wednesday decided to move ahead with draft legislation to restrict its trade with Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, following its official recognition last year of a Palestinian state.

"There's an urgency for the entire world to put pressure on Israel to bring this war to an immediate end," Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin said Tuesday on social media X.

Foreign Minister Simon Harris said the bill would ban the import of goods from the settlements but is unlikely to include services. A parliamentary committee will consider it in the coming weeks before a vote in parliament to pass it.
