Tehran, March 9 -- Iran's clerical body responsible for appointing the country's next supreme leader has reached a decision on a successor, according to several of its members, though the name has not been announced.
Speaking to Iran's Mehr News Agency, Ahmad Alamolhoda, a member of the Assembly of Experts said "The vote to appoint the leader has taken place, and the new leader is chosen," adding that the secretariat of the clerical group will soon make the name public.
Other members of the assembly also confirmed that a decision had been reached, with one member suggesting that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, could be the one chosen to assume the role borne historically by both his father and grandfather, th...
