Tehran/Washington, March 23 -- Iran has dismissed US President Donald Trump's announcement of a five-day pause in US strikes, claiming that Washington had only backed down from attacking the Islamic Republic after being firmly threatened by Tehran.
While the US had said that there had been "constructive conversations" between Washington and Tehran, and suggested a possibility for opening further talks, Iran has publicly rejected the existence of any such diplomatic outreach, framing the recent developments instead as a strategic victory.
