Tehran, Feb. 3 -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani on Saturday condemned recent strikes by the United States on targets in Syria and Iraq.
He made the remarks in response to U.S. strikes on Friday which Washington said were carried out in retribution for a recent deadly attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan and were directed towards Iran-backed groups, according to a statement published on the website of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
Kanaani said the U.S. strikes were in violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq and Syria, as well as international laws and the United Nations Charter.
