Mumbai, March 19 -- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the schedule of the group stages of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL opener on March 23 in Chennai. The league stage will end on May 5 with a double header where Kings XI Punjab will host CSK while Mumbai Indians will host Kolkata Knight Riders. According to the IPL's official website, IPL 2019 will retain the conventional home and away format. Each of the eight franchises will play their seven home games at their respective venues.
