New Delhi, July 17 -- Global semi-conductor giant Intel is set to lay off thousands of its "mostly back office staff," from Oregon, California, and Texas states in the US, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The matter came to light from the company's recently updated Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification or WARN Filings. WARN Act is a US federal law that aims to protect workers, their families, and communities by giving them prior notice about the layoffs.

Intel has not made any official comment to the media regarding the layoff move.
