Jammu, March 6 -- Jammu and Kashmir Transport Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, on Thursday issued a notice directing all school authorities to ensure the installation of CCTV cameras in school buses for enhanced student safety by March 31, 2025.

Enforcement agencies have also been instructed to launch special drives from April 1, 2025, to verify compliance, he said in a statement.

"Schools found violating the directive will face action under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the rules framed there under," Mahajan said in a statement.
