Shimla, Aug. 25 -- The Uhl river based drinking water scheme for Mandi town, sanctioned in 2014 at a cost of Rs 82.18 crore and declared complete in 2018, has come under scrutiny in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly amid questions over fund diversion and incomplete work.

During question hour, senior Congress MLA Anil Sharma demanded a probe into the spending of Rs 82 crore released by the union Government through the Ministry of Urban Development to the Mandi Municipal Corporation.

Replying on behalf of the IPH Department, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that only the Urban Development Department could explain where the funds were utilized, as the corporation, not the IPH, had handled the money.
