Madrid, April 23 -- Spain's No. 1 tennis player Carlos Alcaraz is a doubt for the Madrid Open tournament, which began this week in the country's capital.

Alcaraz traveled to Madrid after suffering physical problems that saw him need treatment as he lost the final of the Barcelona Open 7-6(6), 6-2 to Denmark's Holger Rune on Sunday.

Speaking at the presentation of his Netflix documentary on Tuesday, Alcaraz refused to rule himself out of a tournament where he is certain to have the support of the home fans.

"Physically, I feel all right. I have had tests and we are going to see what the results are. I am used to playing with niggles, and I hope I can enjoy myself in Madrid," he said when asked about his injury.
