Jakarta, May 22 -- Indonesia will host the Asian Senior Fencing Championships in Bali next month, Indonesian Fencing Association chairman Amir Yanto said on Thursday.

"We have been appointed by the Asian Fencing Confederation to host the event in Bali. This marks Indonesia's first time hosting an international fencing championship in 20 years," Yanto said.

At least 24 countries and regions will send athletes to compete in the event scheduled for June 17-23, he noted, adding that Indonesia will field 25 athletes in the competition.

"The Asian Fencing Confederation hopes to revive Indonesian fencing, as our country was one of the founding members of the confederation," Yanto said.
