Jakarta, Aug. 18 -- Forty-one people were injured when a magnitude-6 earthquake hit the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, including two who are in critical condition, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Central Sulawesi said today.
"The total number of those injured is 41. Nine sustained serious injuries, two are in critical condition, and 32 suffered minor injuries," Central Sulawesi BPBD head Akris Fattah Yunus was quoted as saying by Indonesian news agency ANTARA.
The quake was recorded on Sunday morning. There was no tsunami warning.
The archipelago nation is located within the Pacific Ring of Fire, a zone of high seismic activity where tectonic plates converge, leading to frequent earthquakes.
