Jakarta, March 21 -- The Indonesian transport authorities have prepared to ensure that the annual mass exodus involving millions of travellers runs smoothly ahead of the Eid al-Fitr holiday season.

The Transportation Ministry estimated that approximately 146.68 million people will travel to their hometowns by air, sea, road, and railway ahead of Eid, which falls on March 30 and 31.

Authorities have readied transportation facilities and infrastructure to accommodate travellers, with 30,451 buses, 772 ships, 404 aircraft, and 2,550 trains prepared for service.
