Bogor, Feb. 13 -- Across Indonesia, cities including Jakarta, Bogor, Semarang, and Singkawang on Wednesday came alive with vibrant festivities as people gathered to celebrate Cap Go Meh, or the Lantern Festival, which marks the 15th day of the first lunar month.

"Cap Go Meh" comes from the Hokkien or Minnan dialect words: "cap go" means "fifteen" and "meh" means "night."

While rooted in Chinese tradition, the Lantern Festival has evolved into a national cultural event, showcasing Indonesia's rich diversity and the seamless integration of Chinese heritage into local society.
