Indigenous peoples across Northeast to observe Indigenous Peoples day

Imphal, Aug. 7 -- Indigenous communities from across Northeast India will come together here on August 9 to observe the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples in a landmark event centered on the theme: "Indigenous People's Right to Self-Determination: A Pathway for Food Security and Sovereignty."

The event, organised by the Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur, under the aegis of the North East Indigenous People's Forum (NEIPF), will take place at the City Convention Centre, Imphal.

This marks the first time that indigenous representatives from the entire Northeast region are gathering in Manipur to commemorate the day, highlighting a growing spirit of unity and resistance amid shared struggles for land, identity, and ju...
