Lucknow, Aug. 19 -- Indian Railways is set to roll out stricter luggage rules for passengers, like those followed in air travel.
According to officials, passengers will now be required to weigh their luggage at electronic weighing machines at major railway stations and strictly adhere to prescribed weight limits.
Any excess baggage or bulky items that occupy significant space, even if under the weight limit, will attract additional charges or fines.
An official said that outlets selling apparel, footwear, electronics, and travel essentials will also be opened at these stations to enhance passenger convenience and boost railway revenue, giving stations a modern, airport-like experience.
