Batumi (Georgia), July 19 -- In an extraordinary day for Indian chess, all four tiebreak matches in Round 4 of the 2025 FIDE Women's World Cup were won by Indian players, who now make up half the quarterfinal lineup in the prestigious knockout event being held in Batumi.
International Master Divya Deshmukh and Grandmaster Koneru Humpy were the first to secure their places in the last eight, clinching their matches in the 15-minute rapid games with identical 1.5-0.5 wins over Grandmasters Zhu Jiner of China and Alexandra Kosteniuk of Switzerland, respectively.
