Cuttack, July 15 -- Paying tribute to 15th-century poet Adikabi Sarala Das on his birth anniversary at a function here today, President Droupadi Murmu said Indian languages
have played a vital role in enriching the country's educational tradition.
She expressed happiness that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes education in the mother tongue, noting that it helps children connect more deeply with their culture and heritage.
"We have many languages, but one sentiment," the President remarked, adding that the world is amazed by how India remains united despite its linguistic and religious diversity.
She further stressed the importance of learning other languages in addition to one's mother tongue.
