Dublin/New Delhi, Aug. 15 -- The Indian Embassy in Ireland today celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India with the enthusiastic participation of the Indian diaspora. The celebration was attended by the Mayor of Dublin Councillor Ray McAdam, and the Irish friends of India.



Addressing the gathering, the Indian Ambassador to Ireland, Akhilesh Mishra paid tributes to the many Indians who fought and died for the country's independence.



"The only real tribute to the martyrs & freedom fighters is for all of us to do our respective duties to our fullest potential, keeping national spirit ahead of individual interest," he said as per a statement by the Indian Embassy.
