New Delhi, Oct. 4 -- The Embassy of India in Doha has successfully facilitated repatriation of an Indian mother and her newborn baby who was delivered at Hamad International Airport during a transit journey from Ahmedabad to Atlanta, USA.

The incident occurred on September 20 when the mother went into labour during the layover in Doha. With no prior medical emergency anticipated, the sudden birth of the child mid-transit presented significant legal, logistical, and medical challenges.

In a unique outcome, the infant needed a birth certificate, Indian passport etc necessitated by her birth in Qatari territory and the need for official travel documentation to return home.
