Chikmagaluru, Dec. 20 -- union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi on Saturday said India's coffee sector has earned strong global recognition and that the Centre is actively supporting its growth through policy reforms, tax rationalisation, quality improvement and export promotion.
Addressing the centenary celebration programme of CCRI here, Joshi said coffee, though not originally native to India, has over time become an important agricultural and export commodity with a distinct global identity.
He noted that Indian coffee is today recognised internationally for its quality and diversity, largely due to sustained efforts by growers, researchers and institutions.
