Itanagar, Aug. 22 -- In a show of courage and compassion, troops of the Indian Army's Gajraj Corps carried out a daring night rescue operation in the remote RR Hill region of Arunachal Pradesh on the intervening night of August 20-21, saving the life of a critically injured policeman.

A defence spokesman today said the operation was launched after urgent information was received about the injured police personnel from Bomdila Police Station who had sustained a skull fracture.

Braving dense forests and treacherous terrain under darkness, the Army team reached the spot, provided immediate medical aid, and safely evacuated the injured policeman to Tezpur, Assam for advanced treatment, Guwahati-based Defence PRO Lt Col Mahendra Rawat said.
